Dear Nordic colleagues,
This letter is packed with important information. The NEDS board met in Stockholm in the beginning of May to review all abstracts and finalize the conference program. We also discussed the General assembly and future activities of NEDS.
The conference in Copenhagen in September will be great! We are very impressed by the number and quality of abstracts submitted to the conference. This year we could accept only roughly half of abstracts for paper presentations and workshops. All abstracts were reviewed by a scientific committee and rated on scientific quality, clinical relevance and novelty. We have tried our best to give you an interesting, varied and high quality program. Letters of acceptance or rejection were sent to all corresponding authors on Tuesday May 7th. The full program will be presented on our website as soon as all presenters have confirmed their invitations.
The NEDS general assembly will be arranged on Tuesday September 24 at 15.30 as a separate session before the pre-conference event. We welcome all members of NEDS, that is members of any of NEDS member societies, to join the meeting.
During the general assembly we will elect a new chairperson and decide on changes to the rules of the society. NEDS board members are elected by the member societies, but the chairperson of the board is elected for four years by general vote at the general assembly. I have been the chairperson of NEDS for two consecutive periods, eight years, and it is now time for someone else to take over. The NEDS board serves as election committee and I ask candidates for the position to contact me by e-mail before the meeting.
The proposed amendments to the rules of NEDS are chiefly about allowing online member meetings and clearly stating who are authorized signatories in the society. The agenda for the general assembly and all meeting materials will be posted on our website in advance of the meeting.
The registration for the conference is open and the early bird prize is available until June 22. During the registration process you can register for the pre-conference event at Vartov, the welcome reception at City hall, and the conference dinner. You can also book accommodation at one of our pre-booked hotels. The general assembly is open for all members, but please note that the pre-conference event at Vartov requires registration.
I wish you all a nice and relaxing summer and hope to see you in Copenhagen in September 2024.
